Incomplete pictures containing insufficient information contribute to insufficient responses. Pictures are not sufficient criteria to make intelligent decisions. These pictures are not adequate to make a sensible and conclusive criticism. The operative comment to be made here is that he is not cow hocked or sickle hocked. If those black spots on his heels in the first picture are heel flys, he is in jeopardy for warbles.

Doc- Sounds like all you're seeing is his rump in that first picture. If so, hold your Ctrl and hit your minus key to shrink the picture.

You were right! Your suggestion worked just fine - but the phenotype of the bull did not improve an appreciable amount. Weak topline, lacks thickness to qualify as satisfactory terminal sire to produce optimal profits. Better than average hindquarter width, but cut up in the flank. Great hock anatomy!

Well Xbred asked for a critic and he got one.

Let's hear YOUR expert opinion. Take that bull apart and analyze him from heels to head. I for one can't wait to hear it!

Too big, tall, slab sided, no depth, late-maturing, and narrow shoulders. This is the type of animal that is produced using epd's. Don't take a genius or "proper" terminology to see he is not good. Just standing back and observing him does not say beef to you for a good terminal sire or any sire at that. How's that fancy pants.

Still waiting for Doc's animals, oh that right he adjusts spines while we actually own cattle.

yep that's my bull, and i would rather have an average steer..i guess i just missed him...when i had dogs they called it being "kennel blind"...oh well live and learn...but the bad thing is, i've got about a dozen cows bred to him...calves hittin the ground that won't make it to average steer status...you know, the strange thing about it is I couldn't see his faults until his calves got here...and then it was like the light came on..i'm usually not so impressionable with my own stock...just the opposite most of the time, my cattle are never good enough...not this time...and it has been 3 yrs in the making...
