Because the Select Sires rep serviced my tank, I got talked into using BAR ext, and 6I6, on some of the heifers for a couple years. They were definitely small calves, but they had a hard time finding their way into the bull prospects or replacment pen. However BAR EXT did produce one of the more successful bulls I have sold to date. Won the local bull test hfr division, sold well to a reg. herd, and I saw him as the dams sire in many of their sale bulls.
I have the best daughter of each of those bulls in the herd now, they stick in my head as two of the more feminine, pretty, maternal cows out there, but the production doesn't stand out. If I saved more than one each their not around now.
CRA Bexter never got into MY A.I. sire picks but I see a few of his sons at some of the bull sales I attend. These are successful, respected, long term breeders, that produce the type of cattle I look for, and they generally have positive comments about him. He must do somthing right. Protect his Scrotal, and has too much milk for many areas!
