cows roughing up expecting hefier

I don't think this hefier was on the lower pecking order. If the hefier is close to another cow the cow is aggressive toward the hefier . Seem that the cows are working her over . What gives ? any ideas ?

Every group of cattle that I've worked with no matter what the size (5-500) have a pecking order. I've had to seperate cattle into groups based on similar ages of size, it just depends. If there is a large difference in size and you don't have a large enough area the heifer could go backwards quickly or become injured. If she was just introduced to the herd and you have a lot or pen close to the group seperate her but have her nearby so that the other cows can become accustomed to her. Sometimes there is nothing you can do till the heifer becomes larger. I've worked cattle for 43 years and I'm still learning about them. To me they are just like people but they still can't pick up the phone and chew me out.

She is a heifer, therefore she is on the bottom of the pecking order due to age, experience, and size. Seperate her and, if possible, get her a buddy. If not possible to get her a buddy, pen/pasture her next to the cows so she has company but the cows cannot pick on her.
