All you folks with the talking cows, if they are constantly mooing at you when do you know they actually have a problem?
I know this is a strange question but really want to know. I have Brahmans and they only moo occasionally, they will moo in response to me calling them if they are not in view. Also they will moo if there is a problem. There are different moos for different situations but they don't moo just to hear themselves make noise.
So how do you know when a moo means something?
I literally have a "Lassie". She's my leader and if there is something wrong she will meet me on the road give me her "Follow Me" moo (yes I sadly do know the difference in her moos) and take me to where the problem is. Of course sometimes what she thinks is a problem I don't. Once she alerted me to a sick calf (not her own) and I was rather happy to own her. Then there was the time that she needed to show me a dead bird...
We've only had a few really talkative cows. My mother feeds the cows 2 days a week and this one cow would always come and talk to me about it the next day. I never knew if she was telling me that Mom did everything wrong or if she was telling me to go away so because she liked my mother better.
