I do not have a picture handy, but this cow is not sick, she eats and goes on about her business, and has for about the past 6 months while she has had this problem. If it was a human, I would say it looks like a severe sinus infection. Her face is so swollen she can hardly see anymore, and has lost some eat because it is affecting her eating. There are no outward signs of pus or bleeding, it just looks like 2 canolopes are sitting under her eyes. Does anyone have an idea what this might be? I just don't know where to start because she is probably not worth taking into the vet; she is about 6 years old.

well since it has went on for 6 months and you don't think she is worth taking to the vet you really don't need to be owning any cows
either take her to the vet or Euthanize her

Best advice you will get. I will add that since the choice is pretty basic you might want to make it soon ~ to allow her to continue in this condition is cruel.

Depending exactly where the growths are (on the cow, not the girlfriend . . . or maybe both???) it could lumpy jaw. At any rate, as has been said and cruelty aside, if she's slowing her eating she'll soon lose condition and will be worth less and less at the sale barn. With lumpy jaw my understanding is they will simply reject the head, but the rest is usable.

I can tell you where to start. Start by getting out of the cattle business!! You may not think she is worth taking to the vet not but she was when this problem started. anyone that would let a cow walk around for 6 months in the shape you said she is in needs to find something to do other than raise cows. Last time I checked a 6 yr old cow was worth taking to a vet but remember she was only a 5 1\2 year old when this started

Not knowing all the details I'll withhold judgement on both.
I think I know enough of the details to know that a cow that is in the shape he said she was for 6 months should have been taken to vet and if he did't think enough of her to do that she should have been shot. some of these tight wads on here won't take a cow to the vet instead they get on here and try to get everyone all over the world to tell them some two bit stone age trick to doctor there cow with cause they don't wont to spend a 100.00 on some cow that has gave them a 500.00 calf for the last 4 years. Does that make any sence???? THIS SITE HAS ITS PLACE BUT IT DOES NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF A VET.

First words he typed "this cow is not sick". Things like this happen. Apparently it's nothing life threatening and she's doing well. No different than having a knot pop up anywhere else on a cow. It happens.
