Couple of bull pics

When I parked the truck after feeding I looked up to see this picture ! Some days we have 2-3 or more sitting in the trees-- but this was the first time one framed himself in the picture with the flag when I had the camera in the vehicle...

Watching me- watching him...He would only let me get so close...

Temp got up to 0 (and no wind) so since I had the camera in my pocket- I snapped a couple of pictures of the bulls while I was feeding them... I like to walk around thru them and hand feed them a little bit of pellets just to get them used to people and make them easier handling... Let out a yell of "Come Bull" and they come a running...

Old "Juan" ( Lazy Bar B Juanada Rito 06X #16741353 ) has really turned into an easy keeping meat wagon...Nice and quiet- and so far I've been able to keep him with the younger bulls for the last couple of years with no trouble.. Not so with some of other past bulls I've had...

Some of the young bulls.. They are coming along about where I want them to be.. On a mostly forage diet- so they should be ready to go out and go to work when the time comes....

The bulls we kept and/or have left are all sired by Lazy Bar B Juanada Rito 06X #16741353- which traces back 25+ times to R R Rito 707 and several times to Shoshone Viking GD60... His dam is a good little Cole Creek Goldmere 31N by C H Quantum 6247 bred cow...
I don't paper any of the bulls until they are sold- as many of the buyers don't care about the papers... The dams are still around because of their maternal qualities- altho they have shown they can they can maintain growth as the bull calves this year averaged 685 lbs. ... Most of them have a strong Cole Creek and/or Bannon of Wye UMF 8420 influence... Also some N Bar influence back thru Prime Time D806 and EXT... A couple have Lead On as a mgs...
About the only one left that I call a "power bred bull ;-) " is out of Lazy Bar B Lady Blackbird AAA 16065897- an S S Objective T510 0T26 by S A F Strategy 9015... She came to be because of a "special" on semen- but she has held her own and raised some nice calves... Her bull calf this year came in with a WW of 720..

Bald eagles are making a fantastic comeback around here too. Used to be rare to see one a year, now it's not uncommon to see two or three or more. One of the greatest birds you'll ever see in person IMO. Huge wingspan that most people would appreciate. Great shot of him AND the flag together!

Nice bulls! Also really liked the eagle shot. One day we had 8 bald eagles are flying around fighting over something in the corn field across the road from our house... That was definitely something to witness! 1 pair has formed its nest in our pine trees that we use as a wind-break, another pair lives in our wooded corner lot about a quarter mile down the road, and the other 2 pairs live in our neighbor's trees. As of 2-3 years ago we never saw them, now we have 8! We love seeing the birds, just a little worried about having cows calve outside ;)
