she is making a lot of noise today, looks swollen, big teats, not really a big bag, but no calf. what is going on? I don't even watch her anymore. Twice a day, I check on her and this morning she was moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooing a lot. More than I ever have heard her Moooooooooooooooooooooo

She misses you lance. You were constantly giving her attention and now you're down to watching her twice a day? She is female you know. ;-)

Just checked the weather for RI (sorry I don't know exactly where you are in RI), looks like Friday 8/5 & Saturday 8/6 there is a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms or Wednesday 8/10 there is also a 40% chance of thunderstorms. My babies always come when there is a storm approaching, so I'm venturing to say late Saturday night....

Well here's the story, she looks big, and I am not feeding any grain. Her teats are swollen, they were not before, my bull has not mounted her for quite some time now, so I assume she is pregnant. He was mounting her a lot before and does not pay any attention to her now. I did not have her checked out by the vet. If she is not pregnant, then what is she??? Is there such a thing as a false pregnancy?????

In the past with my other first time and subsequent mommas their tail head will sink in and the vulva will start to sag. Monday I noticed that she was starting to bag up in the back and last night I noticed that all four compartments were equally full. It's not going to be much longer for me I hope it's not much longer for you either.

I have never heard the word "compartment" used to describe a cow's utter before. The word is "quarter".. :)

I will start watching for both. I like the work compartment. Suppose there are 5 nipples is it then called a 5th.

Susie I am getting very confused, I might have to call the vet. I thought it would happen by now according to my calculations. Her bag has not dropped yet and she does not look like she is getting any bigger. Did I calculate wrong?

Lance, some heifers don't drop til they calve. I have seen heifers calve with no bag to speak of.

This lady has it straight and you can take that to the bank. Had one like that myself this last month.

Lance...if she was bred on Nov 16 then you should start seeing signs of labor in two weeks.....gestation is right at about 283 days and that puts Olivia in on the 26th. But she is big and uncomfortable...still lots of protein in the diet.

Plus the fact there is no way of knowing if she actually took on the 16th. Maybe 17, 18.....Could have been a night time rendezvous.
