Well, I decided that Tifa the little devil of a heifer was ready to be weaned today, it was also quite convenient for me, so I got a bucket of sunflower seeds and separated Mega and her mother Chroma out from the 3 calves, and then brought them down to the field, they followed the bucket very well, it was all I could do to keep ahead of them.

Well, it didn't take long for momma to notice someone was missing, and she was trotting up and down the fence, I had fed the calves and they were pretty content, Tifa uttered the occasional moo, but wasn't too upset. About an hour later I went there and gave everyone some pettings, then noticed I left the gate open where Mega and Chroma were let out, I figured I better close it to be safe..
As soon as I got it closed, around the barn comes Chroma, mooing and running, so I opened the gate back up and she went back into the corral.. but separate from Tifa. She had jumped and cleared a wire gate, and thankfully didn't bust it to bits or I'd have the whole bunch of them up here. She's no different from her mother and grandma (Rosie)... very concerned about her calf and takes good care of it.. though I wish I could turn that instinct off at weaning time!
