My goal for our cattle has been: Prove that our British White cattle -- heritage cattle -- are excellent beef, as good or more efficient grass cattle than other popular breeds, easy to handle, easy calvers and good mamas. They've done all that for us. Our butcher says he'd like one of ours hanging any time someone comes through his door -- makes him look good. At auction, they don't sell as well as black-hided beef. But we broke a new barrier today! We have a British White bull prospect going out as the potential new herd sire over a bunch of Black Angus cows in an established organic/CSA program in Oregon. I could not be more delighted!
