Coon Hunt Experience

I've had my run ins with 5k coonhounds, and it wasn't good for either one of us. The only good that came out of it was, now they call and ask permission to hunt when it's not deer season.

I've been coon hunting once in my life and swore I would never go again and I haven't. I have never seen the woods so black, everything was distorted, I fell in every hole in the woods, tripped and fell over every vine in the woods and raked up against every briar growing....it was exhausting and I looked like I had been in a fight with a panther. Being about 3 sheets in the wind the entire hunt didn't help either. I think I spilled a he// of a lot more than I drank tho.

m5 great story and nice looking dog are you going to try and train him for something
Just let me know where and when Sky!! :)
Yes he is trained to sleep all day and he is the night patrol. I know exactly when the coyotes are within 10 miles of my house. I trained him to get under my bedroom window and howl in his high pitched voice so I don't confuse his barking and howling with the "sons" beagle that has been trained to bark and howl at any noise or light.

Sky and Caustic...I love coon hunting! Got rid of all my dogs over the last year or so...too much to keep up with, since my son is older and don't like to go with me anymore...that and the fact I almost drown falling into a deep creek one night by myself...scared me a little. Anyway, I would hunt anything that treed a coon...my best were 2 redtick hounds. The male was absolutely amazing and what a dog...he died about a year ago. My female is now running bear down east NC and from what I hear is making a bang up gyp. I really enjoyed working with the younger dogs and there are many of my dogs hunting coon and bear down east that their owners are very happy with. I guess all my money now goes to the cows LOL!!! Sounds like you had a GREAT hunt SKY!!!

I would get rid of my cattle before coon dogs  maybe one day im coon hunting down there in south hill you could come out and join us. 1 coon dog trained and broke and no faults will bring more than a 500 lb commercial steer any day lol

I have been on hunts and seen dogs go for 5K. that was twenty years ago.
Wasn't me buying, some of those boys took that field trail and dog breeding to another level.
When I quit I gave Ole Buck to my Dad's old hunting partner.
I ask that he not sell him just give him a good home, he went on to win many trails.

Yes sir, I am in a coonhound association and some of them fellers have 10k dogs not me.. I was heavy into deer dog trialing at one point in time and then coon but now i eased up and trialing is fun but most of that happened before I had kids.
