Converting a grain drill to a no till drill.

i have a JD 8200 w/ closing wheels.

I'm thinking of pulling off a few feet of discs on each side.. make it more like a 8' drill... (13' now) then weld some coulters in front of the discs.

think this would work? Or something like that..? :lol2:
 
The springs on the openers aren;t strong enough. If you could strengthen the springs you would still have to add a lot of weight to it and the frame won;t handle it. I tried it with a couple of them and was never succesfull
 
I have looked at building a coulter bar for the front of a 9350 and converting it from dolly to 2 point. But the cost of the coulters and frame add up quick.
 
Noble foundation used a disc in front of drill followed br grain drill with cultipacker behind. I just need the drill
