Condensed Distillers Solubles

Do a search on distiller grain and there was was a link posted in one of the threads that was pretty informative. I believe it was from one of the midwest universities.
We have stored it in tanks for over a year before. It did settle out a bit but after a 20 mile haul in a baffleless tanker it looked just like it did when I picked it up from the plant.
There was a man from Luverne MN I believe his compnay name was Minnesota Specialty Liquids anyway I used to haul him the corn syrup and then he mixed it with 32% liquid nitrogen to increase the protien levels and he delivered that mixture to the Dakotas for cow calf guys to put it in those lick tanks. I imagine it would work in those lick tanks by itself. A plant was built a several years ago in his town and I have not hauled him any since. Maybe you could look him up and give him a call he might be able to answer your questions about the lick tanks.
How condensed are you talking though?
The stuff I use is on average 34% solids. In some rations I mix it with ground corn stalks. In some rations it is mixed with fruit loops, capn crunch, wheaties, and other reject cereals. I like it when it has the lower % solids 30% and under. That way I can mix it with the dry feedstuffs better. I know of one feedlot feeding syrup with 50% solids and alfalfa only and he just loves it.

somn thanks. A plant has been proposed about 35 miles from me. They stated they will have DDG as a by-product. So they will have to do something with the liquid. Don't know if it will be thin or a cooked syrup. I think for the lick tank the thin might work better. Just trying to plan ahead alittle. Planning might get shut down, local residents are worried about the water table. But hey someone else is planning one of the biggest water parks in the nation down by Branson and so far I haven't heard any kick about the water table on it. go figure. As for storage the neighbor down the road has a bulk tank he used for whey when he could get it.
Will they sell DDG or DDGS. The availablity of syrup has really gone away here at the one plant they installed a fluidized bed and are using the syrup as fuel. It has decreased their natural gas use by 50%. I'm not sure how it works or what it is but they love it.
