I was driveing truck for my nieghbour last night -till about 2.00 a.m. trashing canola big wind had come up and scattered it all over the field had to get a special header I think the one they used is for peas-Anyway yielding about 30 bu./acre truck holds 600 bu. man it was a long night-- their going pretty slow ,and that truck cab seems to get smaller. one local radio station --lots of stations ;comeing in from the states but they seem to fade in and out ,you have some pretty good talk shows down there you also got your fair share of nuts too.

I think canola is 56 pounds a bushel sooooo 2205 divide by 56 =39.37

I think its about 6 bucks a bushel so 180.00 / acre. not that great when you consider expenses

Well, since the restr of the hands went into town for the afternoonj, me and Dad tapped into the peas... Needless to say, theres gonna be a lot more than last year this time around... I even got the combine radio to pick up a channel in france on top of one hill... needless to say they annoyed the heckoutta me with all their fast talkin so i turned it to 620. lol.

Please forgive me for my ignorance here, but where does the 2205 come from? Is a Canadian tonne that much different from a US ton (2000 lbs)? Or is it the wordage that signifies something different, perhaps I just missed the redefining of what a 'ton' actually weighs? Any help to resolve my confusion would be appreciated. Thanks!

A "tonne" is metric and equals 1000 kg or 2204.6 US (avoirdupois) pounds

30 years ago we had a prime minister that thought we should be metric. good idea if all the rest of the world is.But our biggest tradeing partner isnt metric.I HATE IT--In western canada our land was all surveyed in 1 mile squares (or sections--640 acres to a section)nothing you can do to change that---

imagine you can either say 4 miles down the road OR 6.4 kilomometers

Imagine repairing a tractor 1/2 bolts are metric the other 1/2 are imperial

Something I found interesting. There are short and long tons. A 'short ton' is based on the American hundredweight x 20, which is a 100 lbs x 20 = 2000 lbs. Their is also the 'long ton', which is based on the Imperial hundredweight x 20, which is 112 lbs x 20 = 2240. :shock:
