Clover hay

Was wondering how much clover seed would be in a bale of clover hay. Just finished rolling most of the clover and ended up averaging 3 rolls/acre. Have heard clover will yield between 100-300 lbs per acre of cleaned seed so I was wondering if the seed value in the hay might be worth more than the feed value. Any thoughts?

If the seeds are ripe, most of them probably reseeded as you were cutting and baling

My hay field is about 30 to 40 percent white clover.. I unroll that hay when I feed it . Over the last 4 years I managed to get clover on about 150 of my 200 acres . If your soil is correct it will establish faster ..

True enough. Have plenty of seed on the ground and it will come right back next year but where ever I feed clover hay there will be a good stand of clover as well so there must be a good amount left in the bale. I'm just wondering how much.

I don't know the answer, but I consider buying clover hay as a good investment. As high as clover seed is, bringing some in can't be a bad thing. In theory atleast, you must consider some N, P, and K is in the hay. As well as a bunch of organic matter. Hay definitely has value, beyond its feed value.
