Clearnin Brush and Trees

Anyone ever used on of these. Had a huge one cutting 20-24" trees on a ROW a few years ago but thinking about hiring a guy to clear about 3 acres of thick cedar and post oak in a rough area.

I used to use them all the time when people first started renting them here but other people abused them and tore them up now no one rents them. I now get a business friend to come out and cut all my property lines around our place. It used to be 550 pr day to rent bobcat and head.

that must be what a buddy of mine is wanting to get to clear brush and trees on his place.i told him to get the skidsteer and the brush clearer.and we would break it in here clearing brush.

This pic came off my trial cam and i posted it trying to figure out what the animal was but this property line had been cut maybe a year before this pic was taken.

Cowgirl has one. You could hire her to come do it.

Heck I already have a lawn mower. I need something that will cut and grind up trees up to about 8 inches in diameter...no more than 30 ft. tall. This should do it. Talked to a guy about doing it but thought it was a big expensive. But may be worth it. Said he could do it all in one day...two at the most.

Yeah we had a lot of mulch after the power line came through but they came back and literally raked it into a pile and put it in a little wash for me for erosion control.....fed a couple of rolls of hay on top of it last winter and it's thick with grass now along with small amounts of dirt that continue to accumulate in it.

There is a guy from Oklahoma (I think) that is down here doing some clearing. His machine is still here. It is a big payloader type machine. He cleared a fence line for a friend of mine. It looked awesome to me and did not take very long. He said that he has not run into a tree yet that he could not handle, the really big ones just take a little longer! I can probably get his name and number if you would like. One thing I will caution you about... mesquites come back with a vengeance! There is a large machine on a payloader here in Eastland, TX for sale too if you want to get into the business.

My biggest problem with clearing a fence line and not removing the roots is pushing T-posts. They are not friends when they meet.

This is what my husbands homemade shredder thing did...There were big trees in it too. The guy he talked to ,who was clearing out a place here, said between the two types of attachments he preferred the shredder. He said it was way faster.... Husband has been tossing around getting the mulcher, but after talking to the guy he went ahead and made his.
Took everything down to nothing..

If you watched the video, this is the same clump of trees...he removed nothing, thats how the shredder left it. I was amazed..

Gunner, had a crew come down a few years ago to clear some right of way for a power line. They had a big Cat articulated loader with a grinder across the front that must have been 6-7 foot wide and 24 inches in diameter. That thing would blow through a 24 inch tree in about 5 seconds, then when it fell he would just run back and forth over the tree til it was nothing but mulch. Grind the stumps down below ground level and move on to the next one. I would love to have got on that thing and played for a little while. Probably takes a lot more skill than just putting it in gear and moving forward. :nod:

Yeah, the owner of the property across the highway from me had one working on his place for a couple of days. Didn't matter how big the tree was--the operator just raised the drum p high, stated gnawing into the trunk and pushed it over with rack above the drum. You gotta "know" trees tho--pay attention to which way the limb load is going want to make the top fall.
I suspect it's a lot like a stump grinder--you go thru the carbide teeth pretty fast. There was nothing but a floor of mulch when he got done tho. Pine, sweetgum, tallow, white and red oak, all ground up. He chewed up some big ones with it as well as all the little typical river bottom junk.
Came to a screeching halt one day--he thought he blew a hyd line at the drum motor--------turned out the case for the motor had split wide open. $$$.

He told me the whole unit cost him about $90K Bobcat included. Bought it from Timberjack if I remember correctly--I know they had some sitting out in front of their place for awhile.

There is a guy here trying to clear a fence line with one of the Bobcat mounted ones. It is pretty thick. He is not showing much progress. I don't know if the machine is to small for what he is trying to do or if he is not devoting the time to it.

One other thing that fools try to do here is get a ordinary bobcat with hydros and buy the head for it. That doesnt have the high pressure the ones that are made for it do and results are not that great with those.

The one my husband made is shredding up pretty big trees. In the video you can see one of the trees he turned into dust...Is having a blast right now running it. Is considering doing custom work for people buying up small acreage who are tired of fighting the trees...

His is custom made and way stronger than most you can buy. But, works great.

Same spot in video after he finished it...nothing left and didnt take long. not a lawnmower but can be...lol

Looks like it may have started it's life as a Brown (or other brand) tree cutter. Amazing at work, but when things go bad, they do so in a hurry and in a very violent manner.
