Cleaning fuel drums/ tank

I have several 55 gallon drums with old fuel sludge in the bottom of them. I have taken the caps off and tried to empty them but some sludge still remains. Whats the best way to clean out the old stuff?
Also thinking that a truck mounted tank would be easier to handle. Any thoughts on the truck mounted tanks and how do you clean them. Do you clean them? Or should I just put a in line filter on and forget about it?

Need a filter anyway ..... inline filter and forget it.

For the cost of a 55 gallon drum,I'd make burn barrels out of them. One injection pump rebuild or even a plugged carburetor isn't worth the cost or hassle. If you put a good filter on your pump and there is much sludge in the barrel, it will plug the filter right away. The filters are pretty cashy to try to save a barrel. On the portable or truck mounted tank, spend the money and buy a good filter, with the water seperator built in that you can drain. They cost more, but it's worth it. Same deal as above, one injection pump rebuild will buy lots of filters. JMHO. Good Luck.
