That amounts to a $1.76 TOTAL PREMIUM on an 800 lb. CHOICE carcass above Select!!!!!!

No, it was $3.58 Friday at 1:30. ;-)

Update: April 10, 2008 - USDA

The USDA reported beef cutout values Wednesday were higher, with the choice cutout value up $1.27 per hundredweight at $140.96 and the select cutout up $1.36 at $140.74. The volume of sales was reported at 353 choice and select fabricated loads and 118 loads of trimmings and coarse grinds.

Not paying attention to carcass quality may have its drawbacks too if/when the South American imports start pouring in judging from all the consolidation that has been going on in the beef industry recently. I think I'll stick to quality as I don't believe we can ever produce lower quality beef as cheaply as S America or some of the other countries around the world.

Brazil has made good use of imported semen i have saw some fine cattle on RFDTV on the Brazil ag show they have on. If thats some of the beef that gets imported you better hang on because it will be as good as any we have here.

The choice select spread has not been over $11.00 since Jan 2008 maybe even December 2007. You might want to find a new source for your information.
