:P Got a quicky question for ya'll. Anyone have a Hovabator Incubator, believe that's model 1602, still air style? I'm not exactly looking to incubate EGGS -- more like culture plates. Trying to come up with a cheaper, easier, and faster way of getting results on cows with mastitis than relying on my vet. :oops: :lol:

Anyone know how the Hovabator would work, how well it holds up (resale value if it doesn't work out? :lol2:) and the approximate life of it (one year or ten?)? I would need it to hold the plates between 37 and 38*C, not really sure if I need air flow or not. The REAL incubator that my vet has keeps a steady flow of CO2 into the chamber as well... and I honestly don't know how neccessary that is.

Comments, opinions...? :help:
 
Not sure of the model number but we have one of the old round styrafoam ones that we use/used for the final hatching. It's about 35 years old and still works fine. To insure uniform temps I replaced the single senson for the temp with the double one. Keeps the temp in a much narrower range.

cheaper?...my incubator was about 5,000 :shock: :x ...stupid thing costs too much...but it's for ostriches...so it had be extra large :)
 
HF...LOL, the incubator I'm looking at looks like it'll cost about $50, not real pricy. Certainly not the fanciest one on the market either. :lol2:

Figure I only have to run a little over 25 cultures before it pays for itself, and I know I can do that in a month's time. LOL. :P

Good to know incubators will hold up that long dun...not sure we'd need it to hold up for 35 years :lol:; just know I don't want to be replacing it every year.
