I think most honda/yamaha, etc it is NOT screwed in, so you're low on oil if you fill to the full mark when screwed in!

Thanks as I think you are right as my Honda ATV is over full with the dipstick in and I was a little concerned. I think B & S engines you screw it all the way in to check. It can be confusing, but very important for the longevity of the engine as overfull is bad also.
