Meet Charlie. This little guy was brought to me by one of my workers in a terrible state. I took him thinking that I would let him mend and then find a good home for him. Well, I should know better than that cause Charlie does not seem to be going anywhere :D .

Day one, I suppose a lot of people would just have put him down, I nearly did.

Two weeks later

Five weeks later

Now

Tha transformation has been amazing. Next week he goes in to have his arlies removed......

I love him Alison, he is beautiful thanks to all of your love and care. If you need to find a home for him I will take him, and he is polydactyly like my Kit Kat. What a great vermin machine he is going to be .

I still wouldn't turn him away ! :D He is such a cutey and because of the love and care you have given him you have a friend for life. LOVE rescues, they have so much love to give. Really miss Bo lately, his love was always unconditional .

Haven't heard that term since primary school :clap: The vets recommend to wait til at least 8 months before removing the arlies otherwise it might hamper the development of his urinary tract.

Oncologists and good vets suggest that, the ones that only spay and neuter for a living want you to get them done as young as one month old . A good sign to go by with young male cats is when they start to disappear for longer periods of time you should get them cut. The Kit Kat was around 9 months old when I had him neutered ,he disappeared for almost a day so I booked him in that week and he went in the night before so he wouldn't take off on me.

There are so many for early altering and so many against it, some say it is 'old school' waiting for the animal to reach sexual maturity before neutering as research proves that neutering as early as 8 weeks is not detrimental to animals health - it's all rather confusing :? .I do feel that early altering has been approved mainly for birth control measures, if shelters can spay or neuter before giving the cat over to it's new owner all the better. Charlie's baby teeth have made way for his permanent teeth so I estimate his age at 5-6 months. He still has his arlies and has started pouncing my old female cat and making her life a misery so he will have to go in soon - I'll stick to the middle of the road on this one :) .

Charlie still has his arlies, has now started wandering away from the house a little so his 'ma' has got to keep a eye on him. He catches a lift on my shoulder whenever he gets the opportunity, it's been raining quite a bit here and he hates his toes to get wet. When he's been out for a while he comes in search of me and gives me (as he calls it ;-) ) 'soft love'. He is really a lovely gentle little boy.

Welcome. I have to disagree that he "is only a cat". He is a living, breathing, feeling creature that adds so very much to your life in so very many ways. You keep up the good work, alisonb, because when we lose the ability to feel compassion for an animal we are no good at all to humanity. ;-)

The Kit Kat usually just kills them too, which is just fine with me. Have to worry about worms as it is without him eating mice ;though his teeth would be much cleaner if he did eat them. ;-)

Hey, the mouse is dead - that counts! My previous cat Atari never ate a mouse she caught, instead she would line them up on the porch as a present for me. I never did figure out whether she was trying to teach me how to catch a mouse, providing 'food', or what exactly was up with that. :lol2: My present cat Sassy is hell on mice, and she eats them. Yuck!

msscamp - I have one that lines them up for me too, he brought in a metre long snake the other day -don't know what he was going to do with it :shock:. It's as if they are coming to brag like 'see what I got'.
