Please enjoy your steak,
Six cowboys died gettin it to your plate.

They must not have known much about cattle. Not to good of handlers either.

The USDA posted Farm Occupational Safety statistics recently.  The following chart lists fatalities and serious injuries by breed resulting from the vocation of cattle husbandry.

Angus 1.7 per 10,000 man hours
Brahman 4,547 per 10,000 man hours
Charolais 2.5 per 10,000 man hours
Dexter 1.2 per 10,000 man hours
Gelbvieh 1.7 per 10,000 man hours
Hereford 2.6 per 10,000 man hours
Holstein 1.4 per 10,000 man hours
Limousin 7.8 per 10,000 man hours
Piedmontese 1.8 per 10,000 man hours
Short Horn 5.3 per 10,000 man hours
Simmental 1.6 per 10,000 man hours
Texas Longhorn 6.1 per 10,000 man hours

Note that there are no statistics for Salers. They are off the chart.

The ABBA recently made an effort to improve the docility of the Brahman breed. They collected 200 cows from the best herds in Texas - Yes, our own Caustic Bruno contributed 3 of his Brimmers. They placed 200 cows on a state owned ranch near Austin surrounded by 8 foot reinforced fence with three strands of guillotine wire on top. They flew in 20 Cape Buffalo bulls from Mozambique with the idea that the Cape Buffalo genes might settle the Brahman down. After the first week, the Brahman cows had killed 9 of the 20 Cape Buffalo. The other 11 Cape Buffalo escaped after a group of the Brahman cows broke a 100 yard hole in the fence.

What is so ironic is the Brahman bashers don't own the first one.
I currently have an Angus bull and have owned registered Angus cows that couldn't compete and where sold to Wolf Brand Chili.
Hopefully someday y'all will be able to join the 40% plus and raise superior cattle. You will have to learn to be a cattleman.
TT being an old SMU man TAMU will still let attend the Beef Cattle Course.
With Ravens background he might be SOL.

Isn;t the Nolan Ryan beef basicly certified brahman

I know he has a bunch of Beefmaster but I don't know if he has anything else.

Brahman influenced. But certain aspects of "Beefmaster Cattlemen LP" use other breeds as well.
LP=Limited Partnership.

Nolan Ryan is doing little more than selling his name and making a mint doing it.

Finally got her caught!

Salers are hit and miss, my most docile and my most aggressive cows have been Salers, and Shorthorns, though *mostly* docile, can get really owly too

M5 beat me to the picture

Bradbury and several partners formed a company called Beefmaster Cattlemen. They approached baseball Hall-of-Famer Nolan Ryan, who at the time presided over Beefmaster Breeders United.

Ryan enthusiastically accepted the offer to brand their product with his name. The face of a trusted Texas icon offered the right allure to a new product.

Nothing but a name.

I tend to lean towards the Brahman influence, these cows can thrive in harsh environments. I've always used Angus bulls over the top of beefmasters to get the black because black sells here, but the biggest downfall to Angus genetics in my opinion is a large portion has bred for single traits for awhile now. Low birth weights, and in this part of the world, it's hard to find an Angus bull that has an AZZ. It takes those beefmasters to keep a hind end in those calves. But everyone drinks the Angus Kool aid and are strictly breed pimps. Just breed what u want, but as far as what I do, there will be ear in the pasture

Same here but not quite as much as the beefmaster has. Brangus seems to be the perfect composite.

That's why I included your comment--the links support it.
