Cattle Trailer

I've been looking for a small 12' to 16' livestock trailer locally for some time with no success. Not many available that anyone wants to sell or its a piece of junk. A lot of the new small livestock trailers on the lots don't seem real sturdy. So here's the question...would it be better and more cost effective to have a decent trailer fabricated or stick with buying one. Has anybody had a trailer fabricated?? Any suggestions on reputable fabricators/manufacturers on Tx. or La.?

Ity would seem that the economy of scale would enter into the cost. A large producer can make a high quality trailer for less then a one off being built of lesser quality.

I've had a 14' X 5' WW trailer with a full top for about 10 years now. While I'm sure it's not as sturdy as it could be, the only problem it's developed is some very minor surface rust.

The design of a trailor that hauls 6000 lbs and one that hauls 12000 lbs is going to be different. The more weight being hauled calls for heavier materials. Same as the difference in 2-ton trucks and half-ton trucks.

Lots of good manufactures around and most have websites.

I have a 20' with 2-5200lbs axles lowboy/carhauler trailer already. The insert unit weighs in @ around 900lbs according to manufacturer. trying to decide to buy or build a insert at this point. I have seen them in use at auction rings and they seem to do the job.
