Just out of curiousity, what are your thoughts on the current drop in cattle prices? Where do you see it going from here?

Still falling up here...may buy some steers next week if this keeps up. Down $10.00 on average since the first of the month

the dropp in cattle prices are seasonal here.they have fell off some.but the prices will rebound in jan.but since we are in a drought here wont be alot of spring calf sales.

the seasonal swing is one thing,but 4 dollar corn will hold the price down even in the spring .

With corn going to $4, the price of calves are down but farmers will plant more corn this spring to make up for it. I suspect those feeding next years corn will be able to pay more for cattle by the summer.
Yep the farmers around me are all talking about that $4 corn and how much more they will be planting next year. So the price of corn will come down a little and the price of calves will come up a little. Stocker calves should be up in the spring when the grass starts growing.
