Cattle prices have taken a dive over the past few weeks. Thank goodness we sold the biggest bulk of our calves before they dropped. Sold calves today, got about $75 a head more than last week. The high US dollar has got the blame for the drop. (81/82 cents for every US dollar). Its been so darn dry. The last week has seen some handy falls of rain in grain growing areas and areas that would buy our northern calves.
We are at the end of our wet season the southern areas are about to start their wet season. We don't usually expect much rain in Winter or early Spring. Last year we had unprecedented rain during the last month of Winter. Hope it happens again this year. No frosts yet hope we go another month without them.
