Is there any one out there that has done catttle preg test at their farm? We are on our first try of AI two cows (at the vet) and our vet said he could palpaite at 45 days, I've read on-line that there are some preg. test for cows. Some require blood sample and being sent off, but some require blood, milk, or urine and can be used after 20th day. Does anyone have experience with these? I want to find out asap so I can keep cows on schedule to get club calves born at the correct time, if I wait the 45 days plus another 10 to put cidar's in then we are looking at wasting 60 days. Advice?
 
I have used BioPryn (blood test) the last few years and have been really pleased. It has a recommendation of waiting 30 days before testing. Most likely wont use any other test, has been a good experience!
 
yes biopryn works good. go to biotracking.com to get info for getting kits.min of 28 days bred and 90 days post calving on cows. just min of 28 days on heifers. only cost $2.50 and no risk to embryo. only way to go IMO for early preg check.
 
We use Biopryn, but I think you are looking for something like this, http://www.knscanada.com/bio/homebio.php. We do mostly natural breeding but if I was AI'ing and needed to know I might use something like this. But, if I was AI'ing I might also just use K-Mar patches and watch for repeat cycles.
 
i use Gold Standard labs about the same thing as biopryn its just closer to me i pull blood on day 28 have the results on day 30 cidr goes in on day 31 if needed so i actually move them up one day on second heat breed on day 41 instead of a natural 42 or somewhere close. i do patch them at day 17 and its a good way to check but its not fool proof so i blood check the ones i want to make sure are A I bred.

If she didn't stick she should cycle again between 17-24 days. ;-)

If she didn't stick she should cycle again between 17-24 days. ;-)

Good ole Mother Nature is the best pregnancy tester during the early phase of pregnancy. If they cycle again, they ain't bred. :clap:
 
I use biopryn. Love it. I agree seeing them cycle again is the easiest method, but I don't have all my cows at home, so it is possible to miss catching one. So I like to test everything.
