We bought a couple of these oilers a few weeks back to try and control the Flys. I can tell by the looks of the socks they've been using them but haven't actually seen the cattle rubbing yet. I have noticed less Flys on the cattle and they seem to be spread out grazing better. Really hoping these things work. I figure it'll take a few months for all the cows to get used to them. Anyone have any experience with them?

Looks like the design where you pour the insecticide/diesel into the center post. Cattle rubbing on the diagonal piece drives a mechanical driven pump that sucks the liquid out of the post and pumps a dose to the rubbing piece. They work good. But need some maintenance and eventually will need repair to the pump and tubing. Similar problems to the JD tractors with no fuel lift pump and leaks in the tubing/hose. Better to refill before it runs out.
I don't get it. My people trying to run Angus on the Prarie have them but they don't have less flies than any one else and they were very expensive.
