Cattle Horn Growth

I've heard hearsay that the bony horn cores of cattle, I think mostly bulls, erode back into the skull as they age. Is this true? If this happens, does the horny sheath get eaten away as well?

Never heard of that before. Horn growth does not erode. And, horn growth on bulls is no different than it is on a female.
