I know this is a dumb question. But are there Moderators on this forum ? And if so how come you dont identify yourself as a Moderator ? And to if there are Moderators here who are they ?

Every other talk forum i have ever been to has always had Moderators and are identified as such. This is the only one i have ever been to where it does not appear to have them.

I apprechaite your reply and i do have angus cattle so that might help me a little. But i would really like for all who are Moderators to reply to this thread and identify themselfs so if i ever needed to speak with them about any problems i should ever have here. I would know who they are.

There are three moderators, but they are not identified. At the bottom of each Board page they are listed as Mod1, Mod2, and Mod3. Macon is also listed there. You can click on either one, which will take you to their profile. From there you can PM them if you are having problems. There's no way they can possibly read every post, so I'm sure they appreciate it when any problems are brought to their attention.

Do you know what the 3 user names are and why they dont have the word Moderator out beside it so that members can identify them ?

The reason i am asking these questions is because i have been on here for along time now. And have had other people ask me these same questions.

I have never gave it much thought and really did not care. But there is alot more things overlooked by the Mods on this forum than any other i have ever been on before. Which i guess is why i thought there were not Mods on this forum. I am not being disrespectful toward any of them. It is just something that i was wondering about.

The mods on here seem really quick to me. Some of the political posts have been deleted really quick. They let the personel squables hash out more than other boards I have been on but that is just more entertainement for the rest of us. I've noticed that some (members, not moderators) can ignore a rude or brutal comment and some need to fight it quite a bit. For a newb like me it's often very educational and enlightening for people to voice thier opinion this way. The posts I find the most stressful for me to read are the ones that say "What do you think" then defend it to the bitter end when people give their opinions. Don't ask if your not going to listen to the answers. I just posted something like that myself and asked people to softball me because I know I'm a wimp.

It dont matter to me how they police it. :lol: I hung out with some of the ranks low lifes that will ever walk and broke bread with some of the highest most well respected people in todays soceity. So i can fit in most any where. :lol:

But i disagree with you on this being a well moderated forum and with alot of the members not knowing wether or not if it has moderators at all speaks for itself. :lol:

And with it being a forum that is open to kids is probably one of the worst talk forums i have ever been on. I am really surprised that Macon would allow it to run the way it is.

But like you said everyone has there own oppinion here. And should have. And with the Mods wanting to keep their identity hidden says alot for the way this forum is moderated. which is very poor. ;-)

No One is forcing you to stay on the boards. It's like someone said when we were trying to get political and kept getting locked, "It's Macon's board and he can run it however he wants to. If someone doesn't like it they can start their own board."

I actually think I am paraphrasing something Dun said, but I am not going to check his 15,000 post to see. I will just give him the credit whether he said it or not.

I think it is well moderated. They balance it very well between letting people work things out on their own but keeping the personal attacks out.

Macon has been very quick in responding to any of my question.

Why the sudden interest in the mods? And please dont tell me its becuase of how poor the boards run. Most of us have been around message boards long enough to know it can get much worse than this, just try some pure bred dog boards. They will make you want to quit the breed totally.

But as to this last question, why arnt the mods listed. Not as MOD 1 2 or 3 but as to who they are? Heck all you have to do is look around alittle and you will find who they are. Its not a secret...

I've been on the boards since Dec. '03 and it never occured to me to ask who the moderators are. I figure it doesn't matter. If they feel we are getting out of hand they will tend to it.

If something serious is happening, like a suspected terrorist is posting or some one is providing links to porn or discount drugs, then just PM Macon or post it on the board and they will find your post and eliminate the problem. They do a pretty good job. I've had one or two postings mysteriously disappear before, and probably will again.

I have been on message boards that I did not like the way they were ran but I did not stick around for 17 months and make over 600 post on them, I just did not come back.

Macon is the head honcho and he makes himself known that is all that matters. I understand why he has some other helping and also why they remain anonymous! The way I understand it he ask some regular board members to help out and there is no need for them to be public that way they can still enjoy the board in the way they first joined it with out special attention being drawn to them.

Only problem I have with moderators is when one of them start or talk politics but then cut us off when we are replying. But I understand my place on the foot chain (somewhere below dun and above VanC :lol: )
