cattle feed with salt

I went and picked up some feed the other day and it is the same as I have been using but with salt added. They sure tend to eat it a lot slower, I wonder if this is good. I know it's all got salt but wonder why this has so much. I should ask the mill I guess.

You haven't discovered or bought anything new Cattlemen have been using salt as a limiter for years.
 
Minerals are formulated for a given amount of daily consumption. If they discovered that more was being consumed then the recommended amount they may have raised the salt level as CB said to act as a limiter.
 
Well it sure slowed em down and I'm sure it'll make em drink a lot more water. They actually left some of it and went to the hay. Maybe like Jerry Clower's dog being fed turnip greens...he didn't care for them much the first month but is eatin' em pretty good now.
