How much money do you have in the bank? what is your net worth? Some questions should not be asked. It may be answered by the poster but ........

Not that i asked you, but if you have read enough about these folks operation they run on forest service and blm land, and i am pretty sure they have told how many cows they run in total before, and that was not even what i was asking, i just find this kind of operation interesting and was wondering how big this lease area was and about how many they were running on what size of an area.

Okay, :?
If that didn't make it more clear i don't know what will. I WASN'T ASKING HOW MANY TOTAL HEAD OF CATTLE THEY OWN OR HOW MUCH LAND THEY OWN, i doubt anyone else would be bothered by my interest, but if they are they probably should not be telling about what they do and showing pictures, if someone asking about a few details is going to bother them.

I honestly do not know how many acres, it is close to 30 square miles in total. Everything is up there with the exception of the heifers.

Back in the Easterm Sierra we used to move the cows twice a year from one section of range to another. The only route was beside the only north/south highway on that side of the mountains. The first time some idiot honked their horn just to see the cows jump came as a surprise. After the first time I guess I shouldn;t have been surprised at how many morons did the same thing. It was only about 6-7 miles but it happened multiple times per mile. Got really interesting a couple of times.

Will they tend to stay grouped or do they scatter over that huge area.

Is this wilderness or can you drive on any of it?

To add to TB's question, do someone stay up there with them? If not how hard is it to get them located and gathered come fall?

I bet some town folks would pay pretty good $ for the use of a horse and helping you push the herd around that 30 mile area for a couple of days. Throw in 3 hots and a cot and you're off. Looks like a great adventure for your family.

looks fun for sure, i have helped a freind gather cows on fs land around here, pieces 6 to 15k acres, different way of doing things, but i like it.

Bear with me, posting from my phone.
They scatter to the four winds.
We sectioned the land off so we have smaller area to gather, but we have to gather and move them from pasture to pasture.

Wilderness only. There is a road at the base and a road at the top.
