Cattle A.I. in SE Alabama

Does anyone know of someone who does AI or trains you, in SE Alabama and do they have a min amount of cattle they will do.

ALSO Any breeders of BueLingo cattle is this area.

That was the first time I had ever hear of "Buelingo" cattle; so I looked them up http://cattle-today.com/Buelingo.htm Interesting. Until then I had thought the only belted cattle were Dutch Belteds and Belted Galloways

I thought Russ Paige(sp?) over in Georgia was conducting AI classes; but I can't find a link to his site (IF he has one). I am sure anybody in the semen business...Select Sires, ABS, etc either has classes or knows who does.

Try Select Sires. We attended a class they held in FL. It was extremely informative and VERY hands on. We spent the first 3 hrs in class then AIing a "million" Holsteins for the next 3 and 1/2 days. The days were 8 to 9 nine hrs. Every evening my arm felt like it was going to fall off. Best of luck. :D It is not as easy at it would seem.

There is a select sires school in Atmore, AL (SW AL) this coming weekend. It is probably too late to sign up for this one but you can try. They only have 1 year or less in Atmore, so there will not be another one for a while.

I may actually have my first cows by then. I am just a rookie at this. I have been planning this for over 18 months and love to read and ask questions, and this seems like a great place to ask them.

Have fun. They really give a great class. A few tips: I'd wear tall rubber boots. We wore rubber boots to our knees. Wear clothes that you could careless about. Everything gets covered in manure and that green runny stuff stains. Bring some sort of wipes, just in case you need to wipe you arms or sides of your face. Maybe even a change of clothes, at least an extra T-shirt to drive home in. Also before you even walk on your property spray you boots down with bleach. We did training on a dairy and those cows had the nastiest looking legs/hooves and some funky growths. Good Luck! :D
