What are some going prices for people taking care of your cattle (they supply pasture and take care of the cattle)? Around here I have heard $1 a day per head (cow/calf). Is this high? Low? Thanks
 
I am not offering this land and this service. There is a gentleman in my area that offers this. I was just wondering if this was too high, too low, or what. Thanks

Going back to the posts about the "H" farmers. I would say it would be high. I never posted but my cost to keep cows this year was 385 dollars. That is taxes, vaccines and all. And I know I spent more that 20 bucks on vaccines.

We conducted some cost analysis and found that it runs us right at $1.07 /day/ head, that's from conception to slaughter. The breed of cow effects the bottom line, we take more time finishing the herfs and they burn almost the same groceries as the angus. Should note that we have a big lim heifer that is getting fat on what seems like less feed than the angus/baldies
and are considering incorporating more Limousim into our operation.
So if you have a man that will raise your animals for a buck a day, I'd set up a contract with him for the upcomming season.
