Bull Chit!!! If it was f150 it would have been on transmission #3. A 4L60/4L80 is one of the best light duty autos built IMO. I couldn't kill one and I can tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet.

Well all I can say is the 4l60E tranny in the gm lasted a lot more than 200,000 mi so a chevy can't be all junk.It was not easy miles either towing hauling and any thing else that goes with raising cattle. :nod:
I'm not wanting to start a trk war on which is best but I think I have proven the chevy aint junk.Everything else on the truck is good and engine is perfect.No adding oil between changes.I'm in the process of installing another tranny in it now.Found one out of a wrecked 05 surburban for $500 and only had 18,000 miles on it. Me thinks $500 is cheaper than one month payment on a new truck.

I work for the city of Germantown. Most of the city trucks are f150's or f350/450's with v10's or 6.0L. I'm not that impressed by them. Ive had one of them all. A chevy, Toyota and nissan have all been the best for me. I wouldn't own the dodge I drive now if it didn't have a cummins engine.

Had a 94 Z-71 I sold it to a fellow that my son works with and it is still running and looks good. I ran the mess out of that truck before I sold it. I don't care for the new Chevy body style. Doesn't really matter as the 02 F-250 with a 7.3 is not going anywhere for a long time.

Not at all Cal. If it works for you so be it. I'm a Ford man, was before the bail and darn sure will be one forever more after the bailout.

My wife drove Suburbans for years and all were good vehicles.

I am at 235,xxx and all original except for the transfer case. All the fluid disappeared while the wife was driving it and it locked up in front of the local shop...

I think this K1500 has 2 MN winters left in it.

With global warming, MN winters will be like central Florida. You are good for at least 500K.

I just resurrected a 98 Z71 that I drove in college. Put a motor, tranny, fuel tank, pump, harness, bunch of front end parts, cvs, a wheel hub, brakes, grill, cant think what all else. Darn near a brand new truck for around $5K including labor.

Keep the transmission filter and fluid changed every 50k, not flushed and most automatics will last twice as long. Most all trucks will last if you take care and service them like they should be.

Got the tranny finally changed(by the way I'm getting to old for this chit) and it don't shift right.
Talked to a GM mechanic and he told me it had to be calibrated to my TCM. Said the box on the drivers side of the transmission had to be adjusted. So it's going to the shop monday. I'm calling calf rope.When it comes to that kinda stuff I'm lost.

They've all made good ones, they've all made some crap. Glad you're about ready to roll. We've run Fords since we bought one of those GM 350 diesels in the 80's. Ford screwed up when they sidelined the 7.3, so I don't know what I would buy now. That Duramax and Alison is becoming a very proven combination.
