Thanks for posting that, photobucket has been giving me fits lately.
Can was on there at most for 2 weeks. It'd been 10 days since I checked them last when I found it, took me a couple days to get freed up enough to go and haul her home to remove it. Had fun cutting it off, just happened to be on a kicker foot. Was on an 1100lb heifer that's due to calve in a couple months, she's no worse for wear and healing nicely. We're calling her Del Monte.

There's some hunters who use the neighboring hay fields every year to hunt geese. These fields are full of geese every Fall. So these guys put out a couple thousand $ worth of decoys, and are out there before dawn (around Christmas/New Years) and stay 'til dark. The geese just seem to know they're out there, though, 'cause they always change their flight pattern whenever those guys are around.
Oh, but you should see all the grasshoppers they have to eat this year!!
I'll take the geese over those little Bas@%*ds anyday. Some guy from CSU said that it was your drought that sent them up here with the "monsoonal winds" in July. :roll: I would like to ask him how that explains their presence in June. They took out 75% of my corn, all of the beans, lettuce and potatoes, most of my heirloom tomatoes... Like I said, I'll take the geese (& doves) anyday....The geese aren't a big problem for me .

Wow , poor gal . Probably the only can on the place and been buried for the last 50 years . Glad she is doing better now Cf and on the mend.

There's one place just up the road from me that's got a glass and scrap "dump" that probably covers a 1/2 acre on the backside of a ridge. Pretty neat to walk past, you find some neat old glass bottles from time to time.
It's interesting to look back on the school of thought from 50 to 100 years ago in this area. That generation was graced with many modern day conveniences that no one had ever had before, but at the same time, they had put little thought into how to manage those new conveniences and dispose of "disposable" items properly. Just about every farm around here has an old scrap glass/metal dump from the early 1900's somewhere if you're willing to look.
