Our calving season in off to a really bad start. We've had 8 calves so far 1 born premature had another come backwards today, this stuff needs to change pretty dat gone quick. Well at least the cows are ok thank goodness for that.

Was the preemie too early to save? One of my former preemies just had her 2nd calf yesterday. But we also lost one 9 weeks early this year. Hope things get better soon!

That was almost exactly how last year's calving started for us. I'm sure it will get to going better.

the preemie was born dead, it was fully formed just a little too early

Sorry to hear that - and you generally never know why. We had one like yours last year but the cow bred back immediately (hadn't pulled the bulls yet) so we still got a calf out of her in '16.
