well for the last 3 days ive been chasing a calf.ive had this calf in the pen all winter.an the cows are right beside the pen.well the calf has learned how to push his gate open an get out.so he shoves on the gate till he can squeeze though.an then he runs down the road an lays by the fence an watches the cows.then it takes 30mins to chase him back to the pen.so i finally got madd enough to put him in with the cows.so now mr smarty pants only has grass to eat.
 
serves him right... figure he is thinking of a way to get back in there...
 
well this crazy calf didnt know how to get in the pasture.so when he would get out he would go down to the neighbors pasture.an lay in the ditch next to the fence.an watch the neighbors cows.he is fine now.he is running with the cows now.
 
We have 2 houdini heifer calves that escape as a pair. They are with the rest of the animals in the big pasture, but for some reason seem to think that escaping is fun. So, like Carl, anymore, I figure they'll go back when they feel like it and just go shut the main gates to the property so they can't get off ours. We are doing some major fence repair here, so hopefully that will be the end of it soon. Don't know what the 2 divas are gonna do after that...probably something befitting their brat status...

im very lazy when it comes to gates i have to go though several times a day.so i never chained that gate.it sat completely on the ground.so he would push till it got open enough for him to slipp though.
 
ok why wouldnt you chain the gate. no wonder the calf gets out. i kno that i wouldnt care if i went through that gate a million times a day i would want to make sure that the gate is latched so i dont have to spend a half hour tryin to get a out calf back in. so maybe try latchin the gate next time.

Lot's of variables there...don't judge till you've walked in the shoes...and know that ultimately the calves can't get off the property...OK? Been there, done that...

well i was making things easier for me by not chaining that gate.an very rarely do you have a smarty pants calf thats deteramined to get with the cows esp a dang bottle baby.
