Calf took the plunge

Watching my calf nurse on an undercut bank along the creek. From the top of the bank to the water was 8 feet. The cow was wanting to get the nursing over with. She moved closer to the edge. The calf was absorbed in the task at hand. When the cow moved, he repositioned without any attention to his location. When he spread out his legs to get into nursing position, his two right feet went over the edge. He did a one-half rotation before the water caught his fall. He jumped up and waded out of the pool. He sure looked surprised!!!! :lol:

I think she found an effective way to get that over with! I have several cows who get tired of those teats getting pulled on and beaten, they'll just lay down wherever they are and hide the goodies.

Good thing calves are pretty "rubbery", because that probably wouldn't be too good for a cow

Kind of the same thing happened here yesterday. I was checking the cows and calves and watching #33 feeding her bull calf. He didn't like me being on that side of the cow and him, therefore he switched sides. On the other side was a pawed out embankment or a bull play pen with a good size water hole. I came a bit closer and he backed off from the cow and stumbled down into it. I thought it was funny and he was happy that I left.
