have a 7 mo hereford calf that coughs every now and then. i have heard a couple of older cows do it but less fequent. she has been doing it for at least a month prob a bit more. if i was feeding them in the hour i was there she would do it once or twice. she isnt off her food nor have a snotty nose and temp is fine. she is a good calf and dont want her growth to suffer. before i go to the expense of a vet i thought i would ask on here to get some feed back. do they make a cough sound when they bring their food back up to rechew.

cattle will often cough from eating or some just cough.if shes eating, drinking and has no temp shes fine.heck we cough when were not sick and imagine if we were outside all the time.

When they regurgitate to chew tehir cud, if you here it at all it's more of a burp.
As to coughing, cows cough, that's just the way things are.

Had eight-month-old Beefmaster heifer act the exact same way in December, for about three weeks--I was concerned
as you are, then she stopped coughing at all, never any other symptoms, she's fine.
