I hope you never need to use it. Use the loop above the fetlock and a half hitch a little lower down on the hoof. My best advice for using a calf puller is to slow down and relax, it can be very stressful.

Well Jeffers sale on the calf puller was yesterday. Now you get to pay another $100. dollars extra if you want one. I'm buying the clippers, Hotshot, A tags, and Allflex syringe. If you need something on the Christmas sale the price can't be beat.

That seem to be the going price for Dr. Franks...

I don't know if there's an appreciable difference in the different pullers or not--the ancient one I inherited from my father seemed to work just as well as the Dr Franks I replaced it with except the old one was rusty and the threads were messed up on one of the rods. It's more about how you use one than the model or make, and as TG said--slow down and relax--just help the momma do her job--don't just jack the thing out of there from the git go as if you're stretching fence wire, as long as the nose is out and breathing, you have some time.

$100 more price? Well, when you need it, price will seem pretty trivial.

I've only seen one like it but I prefer the one that has 2 handle?ratchets so you can pull each leg seperately

The one in the first picture pulls 1 leg at a time so the calf comes out sideways beteween the hips of the cow. I bought that on a budget. Have not had to use it yet but it seems to function correctly. Not sure how durable it is. I got the chains seperatly.
