I would like to know what your recommendation for calve pullers are besides good pics for bulls.

There a couple that I am looking at 1 - is by Stone for 250, but there is another one for half that price but has same looking design alternating leg pulling but it about a foot shorter I think its made by neugo (spelling ?) has anyone used this brand?

I hope I never need it, but when its 2 am on sundaynight and your in a jam, well I am sure you know what I mean! Just looking for thoughts and believe it or not the guys I know who I hang with don't have one at least that I know about! thanks and Merry x-mas!

I know this isnt a name brand, you inquired about, but a Jorgensen is a nice piece of equipment. It has some features, that the others don't.

I use a pulley tied to the bottom of a fence post and a rope with a little stretch to it(usually the one off my saddle). You can apply a whole bunch of pull that way without the ripping that comes from ratcheting and it's still at a downward angle. If you have to you can stand on the rope and really pull.
The downside is that if she goes down then the system is virtually useless.

I have the cheaper, foreign made, ratchet puller that sounds like the one you are talking about for 1/2 price. I have had it for 20 years and it has always done the job. Occasionally, I get to the end of the pole and I need more pull, so I loosen and shorten the chains and rehook and finish the job. Only problem is that I lost one of the hooks, it had 3, and being a cheaper, foreign made puller, they do not sell parts. I freshen 20-60 heifers per year and I buy springer cows and sell the pairs, so I end up pulling a half dozen or so calves per year and it has always worked very well for me. It might be handier to have a longer pole, but there are places I have had to pull calves that there was no way a longer pole would have fit in and worked.
