Noticed a 3 week old calf today born healthy, nursing fine,no swelled joints, the calf would take 5 or 6 steps and his back legs would start getting in front or his front legs like he was running but he wasnt, he would lay down and then his back legs would start flopping around like he was kicking, gets up and walks fine for a minute or two and does the same thing again, have a call in to the vet, just wondering if anyone has had this happen or know what it might be?

Tummy ache. Is he bloated up? Most of them will get over it, but we have lost 2 to it this year. Was told that it was hair causing a blockage, most pass, but not all. One we lost, we hadn't done anything for him, most of them seem to get over it. The other one, we brought in, tubed him, gave mineral oil, gave kaopectate and dex. Would have given a pain killer if I'd had any. He just didn't get any better and died on us.

Thats what i thought at first 3way,after an hour or so the calf was standing up and walking around more normal, vet called and said that it was probaly a bad stomache cramp, good call randiliana.
