Current group of calves. About 5 weeks old and ready to wean.

WOW!! You are one busy person. They look good and healthy. Do you run into much trouble with two in a pen? How about with the pens being so close together?- the scours can go a long ways.

When they are ready to leave the pens get fairly full. The 2 calves in a pen has some pros and cons. The scours come and go in a fairly predictable pattern and it doesn't seem to make much difference how they are penned.

Goodness! Thats a lots of babies :shock: ! Good thing you have the dog to help with chores. Nice setup Larry. Calves and pens ~ nice and clean. Bet you're glad its almost time to wean, I know I would be.

The dog is Luke and he is a big help. :) You are right Angie I am always glad when it is time to wean.

Yes, it is a canvas barn. I like it fairly well, I paid $2895.00 for the hoops and canvas (30x72). The finished cost with concrete, metal sides and doors, water and electricity was about $12000. Insulating it was difficult, we finally used blue foam sheets above the cross ties on the hoops.

Yes it is all in/all out. These are bulls and are already contracted as 400 lb feeders.

Wow, bet that is some chore to clean...I give alot of credit to someone willing to work hard for what they want......good job! :cboy:

Other then cleaning , I might like that better then the hutches I use......having to work out in the severe weather all the time. :)

Medic, we bed with round bales of corn stalks about a foot deep before we set up the pens , then add straw as needed. We clean the building once with a skid loader after the calves are out.
