The calf I feed has started licking my hands. Does this mean he needs something?

He drinks 4-6 pts of replacer, working on upping his calf feed, a little hay, grass and plenty of water. We just moved him to a grassy area with trees as he is trying to walk more but we don't want him over heating in the sun. This is a great improvement over last week when he would barely stand.

The hand licking is new over the last 2 days. Does he need something else like a mineral lick?

Thanks

When is he licking your hands? If first thing in the morning, probably doesn't mean much. If at the end of the day when your sweaty, it could mean he needs salt. Perspiration contains salt, and that might be what he is licking for.

Thank you, I was a bit worried he may be missing something in his diet but it is more of an "I'm momma thing". It is not from sweat as it has been to cool for me for that and it is random when I have fed him.
