The selling point that made me want to build one was 2/21/2005 that was the date that I was checking cows by myself and had the misfortune of finding a calf tangled up in some wire. I called myself looking around for mamma but based on what happened didn't do a very good job of it. The cows were all over at the pond quite a way from where the calf was. It was right after Hurricane Ivan the calf was caught up in some wire in a huge debris pile that had been pushed up with all kinds of fencing and trees in it. I bent over to get the calf out of the mess he had got himself into and the next thing I know I have a face full of very angry mamma cow. Needless to say I had assumed that mamma was with the rest of the herd, one should never assume! To make a long story short I ended up with 5 broken ribs, a broken shoulder and a broken foot.
The selling point for the hubby was me nagging at him to get one built for safety. After my experience I always get nervous when the guys are at the farm tagging calves.

Now that he has used it he says that he really likes having it, our son loves it and they are all bragging about the new scale and wench which should save their backs.

I will try to get a video of this in action, it really works great out in the pasture but not so good if they have the calf down in the trees. Our farm doesn't have a lot of trees so it works really good for us.
