Buying a bull at the sale yard

The only way that I would ever buy a bull at a sale barn was if he was part of a herd dispersal sale. If there are a few bulls there and they are not part of a dispersal then you can rest assured they are there for some reason that would not benefit you. They can either have fertility problems, aggression problems, containment problems or any other number of problems. If I needed a bull for a short period to clean-up after AI then I would try to find a bull to lease or work something out with a neighbor. Otherwise, you may end up with some real problems on your hands with a sale barn bull. Just my thoughts!
 
Just go see a breeder and get a yearling bull. The bull from the stock yard ain't worth the risk.
You can buy a yearling for $1500 and know everthing about him.
