The boss and I are trying to get ready for another great adventure. This trip we will be heading to Utah and CO with our eldest son the one that could care less about cattle but loves Rock Climbing. Ya'll say a prayer or two for this old cowgirl cause I imagine I am going to have the crap scared out of me on this trip! I will be posting some photos I am sure it is beautiful. We will be hitting the jeep trails in Moab and Ouray and from what I hear they are pretty spectacular. In order to get ready for the trip we have been rushing around trying to get all of the stuff on our list done. We had the Maternal Gems sale on the 8th I had to have surgery on the 12th so that has slowed me down a bit. The boss hauled some cull cows to the sale barn on Monday then we worked all the calves yesterday. Today the boss hauled some cattle we sold to Mississippi and I had to go see the surgeon for a follow up. He asked have you been taking it easy I looked him square in the eye and said of course lol. Tomorrow a friend is coming into town to look at heifers and pick us some he purchased at the Gems sale, that we hauled back here for him. Friday we have the awards banquet for the spring show and the twins have informed me they need to spend the night Friday and Saturday because we are leaving on the trip and won't see them in FOREVER!!! I really need to get stuff packed but so far haven't figured out when that will happen. I am sure glad we finished up with the calves they are all sorted now all they need to do is grow into productive cows and bulls. I will start posting pictures when we get on the road it really should be a fun trip. Hopefully I will be completely healed up by the time we start bouncing over the trails.

Is red mountain pass motor home friendly we are going to Moab first then backtracking to Ouray we planned it due to what we read about weather and when things open up. Keep in mine we’re from Florida we stare down hurricanes but a snowflake scares us to death!
 
Never been around a motor home. RMP is Mustang and Olds friendly. Once you get out of the swamp and get dried off
you may need a change of address card. Who knows ?, there may be a box of chocolates waiting for you!

Looks like a beautiful drive but I don’t know about doing it in the motor home. We are towing a jeep so will definitely want to drive it in that! I am really getting excited about the trip.

We would love to but won’t be in your area this trip. I do want to make it for a tour one day.
 
Well we left home on Tuesday we stayed two nights in Amarillo now we are just out of Cortez Co. I can tell you I have a new respect for cattle raised in New Mexico or anywhere in the high desert country. I swear I don’t know what they eat but apparently it is enough to keep them in pretty good shape.

what Is the stocking rate per acre in your part of the world, the cattle we saw looked in good shape but I can’t figure out what the heck they are eating. The brush I reckon.
 
Stocking rate is not the problem in Colorado. Proposition 16 will have a lot more impact on the livestock industry
than the amount of grass.
 
Not sure what the rate is down there but in the high desert up here we start between 5 and 10 acres per cow per month and adjust from there depending on rain and range conditions.

I'm nowhere near there but have traveled and worked in a lot of areas in the west. It seems 50 acres per pair is common but 100 acres is not unheard of. Also have read of areas of government land that are only grazed every 3 years.

Not the N.M high desert but up on the Llano Estacado
I can tell ya that in Borden County Texas (900 sq miles and population 650) the minimum requirements (degree of intensity) for ag exemption is:
