Burning Palmeto patches in Fla

Help Support CattleToday:

the only way i know to get rid of them is to pull them up or push them up with a blade. i let the ones on the fence rows stay for quail habitat, but i just gave the cows some minerals and they ate them all down to the ground. :???: would you be interested in purchasing some palmetto-eating cows?

Do they slick up nice on palmettos or are they hard keepers?

They don't burn very well. Most folks use a chopper- a real big one, if they aren't in a big hurry to utilize the ground. If you're in a hurry a front end loader with a root rake.

ours always burn down to the ground. the fronds, not the trunks/roots.
