We brought a 2 yr old Brangus bull home last Sunday and Wednesday he walk our cattle guard. He scraped his feet up pretty good but not terrible and the right front is swelled. He seems to be walking ok but limps on that right front sometimes. Any suggestions? Thought about giving him Banamine since we have some but not really sure. I'll try to post pics, won't let me right now.

All that mud and grass packed between his toes might be a problem.
Because of the injury or in general? It rains 50" a year here and we're on black dirt, it gets muddy. Plan on putting him in a barn tomorrow.

Last summer I had several of my cows walk the cattleguard. They walked across the flat of steel tubes. My uncle seen them do it. I don't know how they didn't slip off, but for some reason they didn't. We finally had to hang a rope across the cattleguard with some cans tied to it. I might have to find somewhere else to summer my cows; we didn't get much snow along I-80 this winter. My uncle told me today that I may have to fined somewhere else to go with them. I do have enough hay to get me through the summer if I have to keep them here at the farm.

We've got 5 cattle guards and haven't had any problems until now. I think these two bulls were too pampered in life. They're in the real world now though. luckily it's a front foot and not a back foot. He'll walk fine one day and limp the next. Hoping I can get him up tomorrow fairly easy. They won't drive or move off a SxS but you can walk them pretty easy.

If you are looking for a name for him try... Tonto. 😄 Hope it's not a sign of more non-sense to come.

Is the cg pretty clean and deep or getting shallow? It's surprising how much difference it can make.
I had two heifers cross a new CG I put in. Got to looking at it and noticed it was built with 8" c-channel instead of 12" I normally use. We raised it about 6" and they never crossed it again.

Our cattle guards are 16"-24" deep but do get water in them and some don't drain well. This dummy just decided to chance it I guess. Gave him some Dex this evening and will just watch him for now. He's in a clean 60 acre pasture next to the house so he's easy enough to find.
