What is the youngest you can have a bull BSE tested,without it being a waste of time. I have a 9 mo. old bull that I'm wanting to use to cleanup after 9 Heifers after AI. I know it has alot to do with the bull he is a balancer,weight appox. 900# and sure acts older he rubs,bellows etc. he was trying to mount thru fence at weaning. Thanks for the help.

Test him. If they breed their sisters in the pasture at 6 months they can sure breed @ 9 or 10 months. Worst thing is he might have the pistol but no ammunition!
 
I would say its a waste of time unless he is at least 12-13 months of age.. and probably wait until he is around 15 months.

Based on how you describe him and the fact that he is a Balancer which should give him some earlier maturity, why not get him tested. It costs me $25 for a BSE for that kind of money I would get him tested. The only one who is gonna really suffer here is the bull. There are other breeds that don't mature as early. In their case 12 mo is the minimum. Why not test him and find out?
 
We had a bull tested this morning that had failed his test 2 weeks ago. The vet said that at K State they would test them at 8-10 months and those that had been humpingly active usually passed but the scrotal wasn;t as big as it would be as a yearling.
