Bull Had Pink Eye at One Time

Would a scar from pink eye hurt a bull in anyway as far as a breeder? I am not sure if the bull is totally blind in that eye. He is a five year old Angus bull. I believe he is the longest bull I have ever seen. The man said he would sell him, but I might approach him with leasing him for a year. What would one expect to pay for leasing a bull? I talked to him this morning and he said his EPD's are good and he would get back with me later on them. He did say he is a good heifer bull since he throws low birth weights.

As far as the scar from pinkeye, shouldn't be a problem with breeding. The last 2 years I have had a friend's bull here with my girls, he has a small scar on one eye from pinkeye. It does not appear to hinder him in any way.

agree that if he is that big he might not be the best for heifers. they arent as strong as a cow would be. if he is blind in one eye he will be more dangerous than if not dont accidentally surprise him from that side.

I would put him with older cows, so I think he would be OK. There is one young heifer in the pasture, but I would move her. Does anyone know what prices to expect on leasing? He is a nice bull, but not perfect. I don't want to invest in him if I need him for only a year. I will have a bull old enough the following year. On the picture, I am going to change it if I can catch the sun out tomorrow. I agree that is one ugly dude.

We use to lease bulls for $400 a yr we were not to use them on more than 20 head per bull.

i think you should be able to buy the bull if he is a 5 year old cheaper then the cost of $400 to breed cows......right now slaughter bulls are selling for 45 cents to 67 cents a pound any bull i would breed to would a least weight 1500 lb at the low of 45 and 1500 lbs thats $635 if prices stay even close and a 5 year old shouldn't sell with pink eye shouldn't sell for more the $800 or so.....tell me if i am wrong just sold bulls swaped out mine sold one that weight 1750 for 65 cent lb and one that weight 1650 for 60 cents lb i do realize prices could and probably will go down but at 45 cents you could save alot money

This bull is really nice. He is registered with really good bloodlines. I really like his looks too. I think there isn't anything much prettier than a big fully matured muscled bull. So much power there. I have a feeling the gentleman will not see him by the pound if I bring that up. I think he has used him enough that he needs to bringin a new bloodline. When he talks about this bull, his face doesn't say "per pound." It says, "my family!" Now if I can convince him to let his "family" come visit the neighbors for a while.

sorry i guess i was not plain enough.....i was saying buy the bull if he wants $800 for him then you should be able to sell next year for the 45 cents pound...and not lose as much money as you would if you just rented the bull for $400...see what i was saying now
